Salmon Fly Hatch
We have lots of time on our hands after a great start to our Oregon Fly Fishing Vacation! We arrived in Bend Oregon May 8, 2017 with beautiful sunny weather. Well that turned very fast to cold, cloudy, and snow! Yes snow! I fished Sawyer Park May 9 and 10 with much success even though it got cold and snowed! Big Bugs were out 5-9 and a big foam salmon fly & copper john dropper from The Fly Stop did the job! The snow continued 5-10 and the RedBand Trout were not looking up! Same flies worked, but all but one of the fish caught were on the Cooper John Dropper!
We are on a holding pattern in Sublimity Oregon waiting for the North Santiam water levels to drop and clear up! We are taking time to see family and friends as the Santiam River gets back in shape! Great to see my Daughter and Granddaughter for breakfast yesterday!
